Description

A classic lasagna recipe featuring a rich homemade Bolognese sauce, creamy ricotta, and bubbling mozzarella that makes it perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • Lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb Ground beef or Italian sausage
  • Homemade Bolognese sauce
  • 15 oz Ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté chopped onions and garlic until they’re translucent.
  4. Add the ground beef or sausage and cook until browned.
  5. Stir in the Bolognese sauce and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
  6. Combine ricotta cheese, eggs, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  7. Spread a layer of Bolognese sauce in a baking dish, followed by noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers, finishing with mozzarella on top.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

For a crispier top, broil the lasagna for a minute or two after baking. You can also make it ahead of time and bake before serving.
