Description

Learn to make delightful homemade dumplings filled with your choice of savory ground meat or fresh vegetables, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 cup ground meat (chicken, pork, or beef) or vegetables for a vegetarian option
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce or sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead until you have a smooth dough. Cover with a damp cloth and let rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Make the filling: In another bowl, mix your choice of ground meat or veggies with onions, garlic, ginger, cilantro, and spices. Taste and adjust the seasoning as desired.
  3. Roll out the dough: On a floured surface, roll the dough into small balls, then flatten each one into thin circles. Aim for about 3 inches in diameter for the perfect bite!
  4. Fill and fold: Place a spoonful of your filling in the center of each circle. Pinch the edges to seal and create lovely pleats—it’s all part of the charm.
  5. Steam: Arrange the dumplings in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper. Steam for about 15-20 minutes or until the dough is no longer sticky and looks perfectly translucent.

Notes

Dumplings can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days and can be frozen uncooked for up to a month. Reheat by steaming or sautéing.
